Dear All,

The sleeping REFMAC problem I reported a couple of weeks ago, was
tracked down to a problem that many of you suggested: NFS mounted
scratch directory (CCP4_SCR). I also knew about this, and in the
ccp4.setup file, this scratch directory is defined as /tmp/$USER.
Turns out, however, that some users (for reasons not clear to me) had
this redefined in their .cshrc files, to be in their home
directories. What was more confusing (or interesting, depending on
your perspective), not all releases of Linux have a problem with
CCP4_SCR being on an NFS mounted volume. So only the RH 9.0 machine
had the problem, not more recent versions of Fedora Core.

Thanks

Harry
