CCP4bb navigationCCP4bb <-- 2007 <-- September 2007 <-- 10 September 2007Subject: New versions of buccaneer and sequins... From: Kevin Cowtan cowtan {- at -} YSBL {- dot -} YORK {- dot -} AC {- dot -} UK Date: 2007-09-10 (validation) today, with some fixes and new features: buccaneer 0.7.5 new features: Substantially improved sequencing algorithm. This uses a full sequence-alignment type calculation to get the best fit of the expected sequence against the electron density, allowing multiple insertions and deletions. This leads to a slight increase in the amount of chain sequenced, but more importantly much longer sequenced chains in the final model. I've got one test case at 2.6A where over 3 cycles buccaneer builds an unbroken chain of over 300 residues. This is the same code which is incorporated in sequins. http://www.ysbl.york.ac.uk/~cowtan/buccaneer/buccaneer.html sequins 0.1.0 new features: A number of stability fixes, and in addition the option to choose whether the side chains are omitted before calculating the map, if experimental phasing isn't available. Side chain omit turns out to be unnecessary when the data is good, and can be harmful at low resolutions - it is possible to detect serious sequencing errors even without it. http://www.ysbl.york.ac.uk/~cowtan/sequins/sequins.html Both programs come with automatic installation scripts and graphical user interface.
