Other XdisplayF (xdisp) functions

  • Write/Print hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: write/print Write to the HDD file with current image in the .XWD format. XWD - X Window Dump. For our studies we newer use this option, but instead we've use Window Grab function implemented into XV viewer, or we've use Alt-Ctrl-PrintScreen to grab the xdisp window from the windows operational system.
  • A/D test hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: A/D test
  • Floor Up hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: floor Up Lift up the lower level for the intensities display range. The image pixels with intensities below the current floor will displayed at lowest color or darkness level. This effectively reduces the displayed range, but increase the contrast of the output image. The left, middle, right click of the mouse cause small, medium and large changes, respectively.
  • Floor Down hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: floor Down The function of this button is completely opposite to the Floor up button.
  • reverse hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Reverse Invert the image display. Operate with gray and color images (see color button).
  • color hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Color Change image presentation between black & white and color mode. The selection of the best mode for image presentations depends from personal preferences of scientist, but for the publications the best mode of presentation is the dark reflection on the white background.

  • Remove pred hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Remove prediction and Update pred hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Update prediction Switch OFF and ON X-ray diffraction prediction. The prediction is automatically updated from the denzo output. Predicted reflections are shown by circles with different colors: green - fully recorded reflections, yellow - partially recorded reflections, red - rejected reflections.
  • Full scale hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Full scale Change scaling of the image from optimal to full to show the relation between the actual data collection and detector abilities. This function is not always worked correctly.
  • Go hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Go Run the subsequent image changes. The direction for image numbers to change is defined by the status of the Frame button. hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Frame UP - for the increase image numbers, and hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Frame down - for decrease image numbers. This function work properly with images, numbered accordingly standard file name mask: filename###.ext , where ### - number of the image.
  • Show Overfl hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: show overfl Shows overfilled pixels by RED color.
  • Peak Sear hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peak search Search peaks on the displayed image. Results are stored in the file peaks.file. After running of this routine, the selected peaks are circled by bold red circles and on the right side of the image the control menu will appear. During the time of program calculation, the information about program status will be displayed with the Peak searching ... button: hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peak search message and the picture of very clever man (see the end of this manual) Please note, that these peaks are starting peaks for the denzo indexing and this set should be selected carefully..
    HKL2000, xdisp: Peak search
Window with found peaks. Selected peaks are circled red. The right hand side menu is described below.

    • Ok hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peak search ok Finish the Peak search routine and create file peaks.file with selected peaks. The current number of peaks is displayed just above the Ok button. Example: 944 spots found: hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: spots found
    • More peaks hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peak search - More peaks Reduce the accepted level (intensity to background) of peaks which results in increasing number of peaks found. When the accepted level is near to the background, XDisplayF can accidentally crash, and it is necessary o run it again.
    • Fewer peaks hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peak search fewer peaks Opposite to the More peaks routine.
    • Size peak up hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peak search - size UP Increase the size of searched spots. This is necessary when the crystal diffraction pattern appears with unusually large spots.
    • Size peak down hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peak search - size down Reduce the size of searched spots. This is necessary when the crystal diffraction pattern appears with unusually small spots and the distance between these spots is extremely small.
    • Pick (Add) hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peak add manually Allow to add manually peaks, by clicking in the main window or in the zoom window in close vicinity from the spots, not selected by automated routine.
    • Pick (Remove) hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Peaks remove manually Allow to remove manually peaks, by clicking in the main window or in the zoom window in close vicinity from already selected spots. This is useful to eliminate problems related with data collected from multi-crystals, or for data collected from crystals with ice-rings.
  • Edit P.S. hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Edit post script This function was never used in our research activities.
  • Help hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Help Displays menu with help topics organized as submenu. Not very useful yet. To close help menu - click Help button again.
  • dim hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Button dim Function is opposite to bright. Increases the intensities range to display with reducing intensities for strong spots representation. A lot of clicks to this button will result in clean of whole image.
  • bright hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Button bright Function is opposite to dim. Decreases the intensities range to display with improving of weak spots representation. A lot of clicks to this button will result in darkening of whole image.
  • close hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Button close Close the XDisplayF program.
  • Frame hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Frame UP and hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Frame down - controls the direction of automatic number changes activated by Go hkl2000, XDisplayF, xdisp: Go button. Left mouse click set this button to Frame down position, right mouse click set this button to Frame up position and middle mouse button click cause of one frame change, according to selected direction. Work properly only with standard image names filename###.ext, where ### - image number.
  • All program delays related with computations, such as peak search, or image preparation are accompanied with the picture of a very clever man.
